Gateway Outdoor Wins Transit Advertising Contract in Charleston, South Carolina
Hackettstown, N.J., January 5, 2007 – Gateway Outdoor Advertising, an out-of-home media company with transit advertising, billboard and convenience store advertising contracts (GOMedia) throughout North America, has reached a five-year agreement with the Charleston, SC Area Regional Transit Authority (CARTA) for the exclusive rights to sell advertising on buses and trolleys in one of America’s most historic cities and popular tourist destinations. This occasion marks the first time that CARTA has allowed its vehicles to carry advertising. The Charleston metropolitan area is home to almost 600,000 people. In 2004, the city hosted 4.7 million visitors who generated $5.7 billion of economic activity. Brad Heard, vice president & regional manager, is responsible for the CARTA account. Gateway opened the Charleston office January 1, 2007.
“This contract marks the first time that CARTA will allow full back or poster advertising on their vehicles, allowing businesses to reach local residents and tourists alike who ride buses and trolleys,” says Craig P. Heard, Gateway Outdoor’s president and CEO. “Advertisers will be pleased with this cost effective medium that reaches into neighborhoods where billboards are not allowed.”
